He is the source of all morality and goodness and is described as being holy, just, and righteous. The Bible presents God as a personal being who is involved in the world and in the lives of individuals and is described as loving, merciful, compassionate, and forgiving. In the New Testament, Jesus Christ is revealed as the son of God, and God's love and grace is a central theme. It is the unmerited and undeserved blessings that God bestows upon individuals, groups, and nations. The Bible speaks of God's favor as a shield that protects, a covering that preserves, and a provision that supplies. God's favor can be seen in his provision of salvation through Jesus Christ, in his protection of his people during difficult times, and in his blessings on those who follow him. In the Old Testament, the term "favor" is often translated as "grace" or "unmerited favor." God's favor is often associated with his covenant with Israel, and it is often through this favor that Israel is able to defeat their enemies and receive blessings.
